Marvelous Early 18th Century Chest of Drawers
* Sold * |
||
Walnut English Chest of Drawers. Banded in ebony and what appears to be a fruitwood ground. The style is most unusual depicting an almost gadroon decoration. The brass escutcheon key whole covers with cherub figures are believed to be original. The swan neck and back plated drawer handles are believed to be a bit later but still very early. Three locks intact. This may have been the top of a chest-on-chest...as the walnut bun feet seem to be a very early addition but in keeping with the style and period and the top is pine. The piece shows excellent color and patina. Early 18th century. Inquire
